Mediterranean woven for Panarea armchair

Pedrali new collection designed by CMP Design, rooted in the Mediterranean coastline

Light, sunny and elegant. These three adjectives describe Panarea, Pedrali outdoor collection designed by CMP Design. The idea behind Panarea is rooted in the Mediterranean coastline, and in the colours and refreshing breeze of an outdoor dinner on a sea-facing terrace, on a pleasant summer day.

An armchair and a lounge armchair featuring a traditional element hand-woven in Italy as a sign of respect for and dedication to Italian craftsmanship.

"A woven object always inspires a certain reverence for manual work. A kind of charm for an archaic beauty where utility and the right shape meet, become one. A traditional object transmits what is a pre-existing technique and Panarea wants to be this: a continuation in a modern way of the oldest construction technique ever used by human being" – tell the designers.

The collection features a wide and curved backrest woven in polypropylene cord which creates an original geometrical pattern and wraps around the tubular steel frame powder coated for outdoor use, as far as the armrests. This use of cord emphasises Panarea’s elegant appearance and optimises the weave, resulting in a double curvature that gives the seating three-dimensionality and graphic rigour, as well as making it transparent and easy to move.

In fact, one of Panarea highlights is lightness, to be intended as both a distinctive feature of the product as well as a recall to a time that seems to be suspended and serene. This feeling is better enhanced in the lounge armchair, which comes with a wide seat and a high backrest whose curvature traces virtually a circular space of relax and conviviality.

The comfort is enhanced by the comfortable cushion in dry-feel polyurethane foam that dries quickly and covered in fabric made from the same yarn used for the woven element.

Panarea comes in a sophisticated and contemporary chromatic palette: from the warmer shades of sand and terracotta to the colder ones of blue and grey. The colour of the cushion can be matched or contrast with that of the frame. It is available in pink too.

Le Vie del Compasso d’Oro 2020

Frida showcased at “La Centrale” in the New SDA Bocconi School of Management Campus.

Again this year Pedrali, the Italian company producing 100% made in Italy modern furniture, takes part in Le Vie del Compasso d’Oro, the initiative presented by ADI Lombardia and now in its 4th edition.

Frida, designed by Odo Fioravanti and winner of the Compasso d’Oro award in 2011, is showcased at “La Centrale”, in the brand new SDA Bocconi School of Management Campus in Castelbarco street.

Designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa from the Japanese SANAA studio, the new campus, located in the ex Centrale del Latte area, was acclaimed as an architectural intervention “able to redefine the concept of campus as integral element of the urban structure, thanks to a unitary, organic and not invasive set of buildings which is at the same time phisically and visually open to the surrounding space”.

First launched in 2008 at the XXXII edition of Promosedia, Frida won the Top Chair Residential award in the same year. Selected for the ADI Design Index, in 2011 wins the XXII Compasso d’Oro ADI, the world eldest and most influential design prize, “for its simple sculptural beauty”.

This seating explores new possibilities in the field of woodworking. Its innovative character lies in the superposition of a three-dimensional shell on a solid wood frame, shaping an extremely light, ergonomic and resistant product.

Le Vie del Compasso d’Oro begins on Thursday the 10th of September, will end on Sunday the 31st of January 2021.

Opening hours will be those of the host facility. The food & drink area “La Centrale” is open to the public, as well as to the students, from Monday to Friday from breakfast to aperitif and on Saturday morning.

The aim is promoting customisable itineraries in order to offer a direct experience with the historical and contemporary places related to the prestigious Compasso d’Oro prize, while enhancing the awarded, mentioned or selected products from 1954 to nowadays.

Many will be the initiatives involving the city of Milan over this period: the opening of the XXVI ADI Compasso d’Oro prize exhibition scheduled for the 9th of September, the Milano Re-Design City, from the 28th of September to the 10th of October and the opening of the ADI Design Museum Compasso d’Oro and the ADI Design Index 2020 exhibition.

Pedrali takes part in "Elle Decor Fab Food. The new spaces and rituals", the first digital exhibition by Elle Decor Italia, designed by Vudafieri Saverino Partners, originally organised at Palazzo Bovara in Milan, which has always hosted the event of the magazine during Milan Design Week.

The collections of the Italian company furnish the Cook&Share corner: within this space there is also the new Blume lounge chair by Sebastian Herkner, which is one of the latest products presented with New Ideas 2020. Featured by a soft and rounded shape, Blume lounge chair owe its distinctive appearance to the sophisticated flower-shaped profile in extruded aluminium. The result is an extremely comfortable collection that thanks to the different finishes available fits perfectly to any setting.

This corner of the exhibition also includes Dome stools, designed by Odo Fioravanti, characterized by an alternation of linear and curved profiles that guarantee an ergonomic seat and Zippo, the upholstered sofa which allow to create a niche of privacy without giving up on extreme comfort.

It is possible to take a virtual and immersive tour within the six rooms, inspired by Palazzo Bovara, and to click on the product. The aim of the exhibition is to investigate the world of food in relation to hospitality venues without forgetting the even more present environmental issues connected to food production.

The exhibition opens July 29th on a dedicated channel accessible from https://fabfood.elledecor.it/, and will be on air for four months.

New Ideas 2020: Pedrali presents the new collections

Products, family extensions and two new collaborations

Pedrali, the 100% Made in Italy company that produces furniture for contract and residential, presents the new collections 2020. Versatile products that, in a year in which facing the Covid-19 emergency has become a necessity, aim to wellness, comfort and sustainability without giving up on that aesthetics and high quality which have always characterized them.

The new collections are presented through “New Ideas 2020”, the project in which products are enhanced with expressivity thanks to the interaction with the surroundings. Sets are characterized by clean design and a pastel palette that recall suspended and reassuring realities, able to convey the desire for beauty and dream. The attention to details and to materials is here enhanced, revealing the savoir faire and the passion that the company showcases every year also by taking advantage of the collaboration with Italian and international designers. In order to suggest real scenarios, in which these new collections find their place, a play of lights and shadows is used. An impactful effect is the result, able to convey the vibrant soul of these products.

The outdoor sets are enriched with greenery, where the fronds seem to blow in the wind outlining pleasant and relaxing dehors.

This year Pedrali introduces two new collaborations: with the German designer Sebastian Herkner and the Anglo-Italian Robin Rizzini.

The creative and design universe of Herkner, 2019 “Designer of the Year”, is guided by craftsmanship, quality and functionality. In line with Pedrali’s philosophy, this is a world where traditional artisan skills blend with new production technologies to create products based on high quality materials that age with time.

This artistic and design partnership gives rise to a new collection that draws inspiration from the concepts of elegance and sophistication: Blume.

Featured by a soft and rounded shape, both chair and lounge armchair owe their distinctive appearance to their sophisticated flower-shaped profile in extruded aluminium. An extremely comfortable collection, in which the slender frame and the soft, generous polyurethane foam are harmoniously combined. The steel structural element, placed under the seat to strengthen the chair and to secure the legs is removable: this way all product’s components can be disassembled and disposed of correctly at the end of their life cycle.

The collection is complemented by a set of coffee tables featuring the seating’s flower-shaped profile. Available in various heights and sizes, the Blume tables may be combined to create different compositions.

Rizzini’s work stems instead from his research into innovative materials and production processes. His designs centre on coherence and rationality, rejecting every design redundancy and the use of unnecessary materials, both in terms of quality and of quantity. The collaboration with the italian company gives life to a new functional and expressive product: Toa, a table that combines a technical-industrial style with decorative allure. Lightweight and minimalist, the Toa table is characterised by a solid die-cast aluminium frame in a fluid geometric design, suitable to support large sizes tops. Main features are its tapered bridge legs made of die-cast aluminium, which are thinner at the base and widen up towards the “T” element that supports the top. The use of geometry gives life to an iconic shape that blends the strength and lightness of a minimal design with details that enhance the expressiveness and the style of the materials used.

Thanks to its modularity, Toa table is available in a variety of widths and depths and in a wide range of finishes. It is the perfect choice for both living areas and workspaces, besides many other uses.

An high-quality comfort comes to life with Ila armchair designed by Patrick Jouin. A refined piece of furniture with a strong personality, expressing utmost comfort, softness and sensuality “During the design phase, we wanted to include some ‘unexpected’ elements, capable of providing rhythm, yet surprising and able to interpret a space. Ila is in fact a small sculpture.”  – explains the designer.

The smooth, taut exterior in rigid polyurethane almost cocoons the user in its large volumes, allowing a moment of relaxation and escape from everyday life. This sense of protection is augmented by the inner side of the backrest and seat in flexible polyurethane foam, which adapts to the human body and envelops it just like a soft embrace. The version with a large headrest accentuates the sense of escaping from everyday life and adds character to the armchair.

Ila’s versatility lies in the possibility of choosing a geometric and swivelling central base in the shape of a cone section, whose inclined design evokes dynamism and lightness, or a four-legs steel tube frame available in different colours and finishes.

The desire for escape and the call of outdoors materialise in the new outdoor products.

The idea behind Panarea, the collection designed by CMP Design is rooted in the Mediterranean coastline, and in the colours and refreshing breeze of an outdoor dinner on a sea-facing terrace. An armchair and a lounge armchair featuring a traditional element hand-woven in Italy as a sign of respect for and dedication to Italian craftsmanship. The wide and curved backrest is woven in polypropylene cord which creates an original geometrical pattern and wraps around the tubular steel frame as far as the armrests.

This use of cord emphasises Panarea’s elegant appearance and optimises the weave, resulting in a double curvature that gives the seating a three-dimensional, graphic rigour, as well as making it transparent, easy to move.

The lounge armchair comes with a wide seat and a high backrest whose curvature traces virtually a circular space of relax and conviviality.

The successful Reva collection, designed by Patrick Jouin, characterized by soft lines and generous sizes, has been enriched with a new version: Reva Twist. An elegant three-seater sofa and lounge armchair feature four tapered legs in die-cast aluminium placed at the extremities of the perimeter frame in extruded aluminium. The steel backrest and armrests are woven with a flat rope in weather-resistant polypropylene, for a more natural appearance. Soft cushions rest on the frame for more comfort.

For relaxing moments on the terrace, in the garden or by the pool, Pedrali proposes the new Rail sun lounger, characterized by simple, modern lines. Its slim frame in powder coated aluminium has four angled legs in stainless steel featuring an oblique design. The seat and backrest are in textilene.

Upholstered in water-repellent, UV-resistant fabric, the comfortable cushion is padded in dry-feel foam.

The collaboration with the Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet goes on with Remind chair, which adds a new element to the collection first introduced in 2018 drawing on the soft, sinuous curves of the wooden chairs of the late 19th century, reinterpreted in an innovative key, this sensual and romantic design has a completely new feel about it.

Functional, versatile and relatively small, this chair is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use thanks to the combination of harmonious lines and a lightweight yet solid material.

Babila XL meets a growing demand for environmental sustainability, adding a new element to the family designed by Odo Fioravanti, that fits harmoniously within a collection poised between tradition and innovation. The inspiration behind Babila XL remains the alternating rational and straight lines with curves in order to create a link between the artificial world of industrial products and the natural, sinuous world of the human body. The Babila XL armchair with a polypropylene shell stands out for the large dimension of its seat and armrests. The aim is to offer greater seating comfort thanks to the removable lining that, recalling a woman’s dress, may be cleaned with ease.

In order to support the environmental sustainability, that is a focus of a company’s philosophy, Pedrali introduces new versions of products made entirely from recycled material: 50% from plastic material post-consumer waste and 50% from plastic material industrial waste. Remind and Babila XL “recycled grey” are the first Pedrali products made from recycled polypropylene.

Soul Soft, presented as preview at Maison & Objet 2020, is the new special version of the armchair with solid ash wood frame and polycarbonate shell, designed by Eugeni Quitllet in 2018. Soul Soft features a padded and upholstered shell in genuine leather. The new seating faithfully recalls the silhouette of the collection, which includes the outdoor version presented in 2019, subtly accentuating and enhancing its comfort.

The Italian company and the renowned German designer join forces for a new collection

Pedrali opens its doors to Sebastian Herkner, one of the biggest names in contemporary international design. The artistic and design partnership gives rise to a new collection that combines shapes and materials, with a special focus on detail.

The creative and design universe of Sebastian Herkner, 2019 Designer of the Year, is guided by craftsmanship, quality and functionality. Herkner’s idea is to create every single element in the best way possible, taking into account all the details and every step of the process required to create an extraordinary object. His work is underscored by a sensitivity and an identity that emphasizes functionality, materials and attention to detail.

The partnership is born of a mutual enthusiasm, as Herkner states: «I met Monica and Giuseppe already about 5 years ago and we always had an interesting conversation when we met. Very down to earth and precise. This was at the end a perfect starting point for a collaboration and a productive dialogue about design, quality and local production»

Sebastian Herkner (born 1981) studied Product Design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design. The workforce of our three production units (located in Mornico al Serio, in the province of Bergamo; Palazzolo sull'Oglio, in the province of Brescia and Manzano, in the province of Udine) will resume their activities with full respect of the safe health measures. While to ensure continued business at a professional level, remote work will continue for offices staff in different departments: sales, administrative, marketing, R&D.

Our automated warehouse “Fili d’erba” has already resumed full operations, thanks to its technological essence that consists of robots and remotely operated shuttles, as well as its extensive stock. #PEDRALITALES is on air from March 2020

The new Pedrali advertising campaign showcases the brand’s lifestyle

Pedrali is launching #PEDRALITALES, its new 2020 advertising campaign. The 100% Made in Italy company aims to convey the elegance of the Brand’s lifestyle through its new indoor and outdoor collections, for which it has picked a suggestive location and a celebrated photographer. The campaign project is curated by Studio FM with the collaboration of Studio Salaris for styling.

The eight #PEDRALITALES shots are taken by Andrea Garuti, the Italian photographer acclaimed for his reportages on metropolitan cities and his collaborations with Italian and international magazines.

Designed by the firm Rebelo de Andrade, the story of Casa 3000 unfolds in a truly suggestive location. With its striking shape and colour, the building soars within a wild landscape of cork oaks and umbrella pines stretching as far as the eye can see in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, in Alcácer do Sal, close to the exclusive Comporta area. The archetypical shape of the house is characterized by clean, simple lines and a bright red colour. The result is a dreamlike atmosphere that evokes the romantic image of a red house at the edge of the woods, like something out of a fairy tale, or the house on the prairie, reinterpreted in a contemporary key.

The harmonious and dynamic architecture of Pedrali’s latest collections brings eight scenes to life with four outdoor and four indoor settings. The photographs showcase the products, which eloquently express the interaction with their surroundings. The colour contrast between the red of the house and the nuances of the furniture is particularly impactful, building a constructive dialogue and a link between architecture and design.

The first of four outdoor shots feature Soul Outdoor, the armchair designed by Eugeni Quitllet that expresses the concept of pure creativity. A curved aluminium tubular frame, with classical shapes but solid proportions, clasps an ergonomic seat in shaped teak slats, almost like an embrace. The Concrete table by Pio and Tito Toso, with a concrete base and steel column, completes the scene, drawing the eye to a setting where simple, essential forms are given prominence.

The following two snapshots feature the Tribeca collection, designed by CMP Design, a modern reinterpretation of classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven material. The true icon is reimagined with new materials: a steel frame, combined with the elasticity of a profile in vertically-woven plastic material that is extremely durable, easy to clean and colourful. Handcrafted with meticulous attention detail, this chair is incredibly soft and comfortable and puts a contemporary twist on tradition with its cutting-edge design and quality. The collection’s versatility makes it suitable for a variety of settings: from a veranda to an open-air garden, in which to enjoy the red house’s romantic atmosphere at twilight.

The wireless outdoor lamp by Basaglia Rota Nodari, Giravolta completes the setting with the last outdoor shot, which stages a dehors furnished with Reva, the collection designed by Patrick Jouin with smooth lines and generous sizes that evokes relaxing and dreamy atmospheres. Its clean design is accentuated by the four tapered legs that support a thin extruded aluminium frame, while the soft cushions offer greater comfort, both for the sofa and the lounge armchair.

The versatile and welcoming shapes of the Buddy table stand out against the red wall of the house, which serves as a backdrop and a link between all the scenes.

The vibrant outer shell is matched by a warm, homogeneous interior with an eclectic, modern and detailed design while the large windows frame the landscapes and flood the rooms with natural light.

Designed by CMP Design, the first setting portrays the living area where natural lighting caresses the sinuous profile of the Jamaica armchair, highlighting the tubular steel backrest, which adds a subtle chromatic element. Characteristic of a modernist collection, the warmth of the ash plywood used with variable thickness on the shell and legs conveys the sense of elegance in soft tones that looks to the past, while reinterpreting the forms with a twist.  Within this setting, the Babila table accentuates the 100% Made in Italy design of Pedrali’s furnishings.

The second indoor setting presents Remind, the armchair designed by Eugeni Quitllet, evoking the soft sinuous curves of wooden chairs from the late Nineteenth century. Made of polypropylene and featuring a breathable seat and backrest, Remind unveils exceptional attention to detail. Each element is conceived to ensure total comfort and cosiness, as well as extreme lightness. Like a moment suspended in time, the Fluxo table by Luca Casini, characterized by a stable structure and a distinctive personality, with a subtle and elegant design, contributes to delineate this space.

The other two indoor #PEDRALITALES shots portray two products that are characterized by the campaign’s hallmark elements: the energy of the colour red, the comforting warmth of wood, texture and their quality.

Designed by CMP Design, Folk chair accentuates the concept of simplicity. Its friendly nature, the warmth of ash wood, the soft and compact dimensions seamlessly convey the concept of a chair that speaks a universal language. The solid ash frame embraces the aluminium ring that holds the seat.

Designed by French designer Patrick Norguet, Vic is an elegant and cosy chair marked by simplicity. The backrest that lifts from the seat while remaining tied only at the ends is especially distinctive.  The resulting opening provides Vic with design lightness and eases the handling. Inox table, which this year celebrates a special anniversary, 20 years since its launch, and Tamara suspension lamp by Basaglia Rota Nodari, that successfully blends style and elegance, complete the scene.

The #PEDRALITALES advertising campaign will run on architectural, design, news and lifestyle magazines and portals for Pedrali’s target readers.

Spring Feelings

Pedrali collections design 2020 outdoor spaces

Spring is coming and the desire to stay in the open air animates gardens and terraces. Pedrali products represent the ideal solution to enjoy outdoor comfort and wellness in the sign of colour, style and elegance.

Enigma Suites in Santorini is a location with a magical atmosphere boasting a breathtaking view of the Greek sunset. Plage la Mandala coffee bar in Cannes is the ideal choice to spend moments of conviviality with friends in a colourful environment by the sea. In these two suggestive contexts fit Tribeca seating, designed by CMP Design, recognizable for its summery traits. Tribeca throws shadows of its cords onto the cobblestones of the squares and is selected for bar and restaurants dehors, like Peck CityLife, new destination for the happy hour in Milan recently opened in Piazza Tre Torri, in the heart of CityLife Shopping District. For Caffè del Colleoni, located in the centre of Bergamo, together with Tribeca collection, Elliot table by Patrick Jouin was chosen.

In the suggestive heart of the historical centre of Gallipoli, on Pascaraymondo Suite Palace terrace you can sip your aperitif while enjoying the sunset over the city roofs comfortably seated on Remind armchairs by Eugeni Quitllet. Remind is the choice of Petit Palace Suites terrace in Santorini, one of the 25 small luxury hotel in Europe, from which is possible to contemplate an endless view of Mediterranean blue waters.

The combination of different materials and cutting-edge technologies predominate in Soul Outdoor, which recalls the nautical world. Designed by Eugeni Quitllet, the aluminium version with an ergonomical seat made from shaped teak slats is a special evolution of the original version made of bent wood. The contrast between the curved aluminium frame and the teak ensure a great aesthetic result and a contemporary outdoor style, thanks to the shininess of the metal or the wide range of colours available for the frame, while preserving the shape and the sinuosity of the lines.

Reva collection designed by Patrick Jouin has been chosen to recreate a pleasant and relaxing outdoor corner at Philiaz restaurant, on Caldaro lake in the Dolomites. The versatile and multifunctional collection, that evokes the relaxing, dreamy atmospheres of the warmer season, is composed by an elegant three-seat sofa, a lounge armchair and a sun lounger.

To light up spring nights, Pedrali proposes Giravolta, the wireless, rechargeable lamp with a contemporary design by Basaglia Rota Nodari. Easy to move as required, it has a diffuser that can be turned 360° to direct the light.
